From East:
- Proceed to Providence via 195
- Exit 195 at South Main Street exit
- At bottom of ramp take first left (James Street/RI 1a)
- This street is only 15 yards long, at the end turn left
- Stay to the left as road splits
- At the stop light turn left onto Wickenden Street
- Follow “Wickenden” directions below
From West find your way to Interstate 95:
- In Rhode Island that would be via Hwy 6, 146, or 295
- Once on 95 follow the “North or South” directions below
From North or South:
- Proceed to Providence via Interstate 95
- From 95 exit to 195 East
- From 195E, take Exit 2 Wickenden Street. At the end of the exit ramp turn left at the traffic light onto Wickenden Street.
- Follow “Wickenden” directions below
From Wickenden (see our localized map):
- Once on Wickenden Street, proceed to 2nd traffic light after the underpass
- Turn left onto Brook Street.
- Proceed 7 blocks to Charlesfield Street.
- If you are a professional guest of the Education Department using a complimentary parking permit:
- Turn right
- Midway through the block, on your left, will be the Public Safety building
- Turn left at the end of the building, there is visitor permit parking in the rear - Lot 57
(request permit two days in advance and plan to pick it up from the Education Department on the day of your visit) - If you would like your parking permit mailed with a Visitor Pack, please make the request at least a week in advance. - Walk to Barus Hall
- Return to Brook Street and continue to walk a further 2 and a half blocks towards Waterman Street. Manning Walk is on your left and the Education Department, Barus Hall, is the first building you will see on the left of the path.
- If finding on-street parking:
- On-street parking at Brown can be difficult to obtain!
- Try Brook, George, and Thayer - all close to the Education Department.
- Most parking is two-hour.
- Some on Charlsfield Street is all day.
- Hope street (1 block to your right) is mixed 2 and 3 hour parking.
Where on campus is Barus Hall (not Barus & Holley)?
Manning Walk is half way between Waterman and George Streets. The Education Department, Barus Hall, is at the Brook Street end of the path that runs between Brook and Thayer. Barus is the stone “castle”.
