Environmental Humanities at Brown becomes a center
We’re pleased to announce that the Environmental Humanities at Brown (EHAB) initiative will become a center at the institute in Fall 2024. Macarena Gómez-Barris, the Timothy C. Forbes and Anne S. Harrison University Professor of Modern Culture and Media has been appointed its inaugural director.
“Models-Scale-Context: AI and the Humanities” to Be First Collaborative Humanities Lab at Cogut
Beginning this Fall 2024 for a period of three years, historian Holly Case and computer scientist Suresh Venkatasubramanian will lead the first collaborative humanities lab at the Cogut Institute. The lab will advance research through programming, teaching, and publications.
Andrews House: A New Home for the Cogut Institute
As of August 2024, Andrews House, located at 13 Brown Street, is home to the Cogut Institute. The newly renovated building offers exciting opportunities for growth and community-building, and also has a rich history intertwined with the history of Rhode Island and Brown University.
New undergraduate collaborative humanities seminar will explore feminism across Asia
A pair of faculty members from the Departments of East Asian Studies and Anthropology will team up in fall ’25 to teach a new, experimental course for undergraduates: “Transnational Feminist Knowledge Production and Practices: Perspectives from East and West Asia.”
