Kathryn Fields, Teaching Associate
Kathryn Fields’ performing career spans opera, concert and cabaret, including, among others, Zerlina, Despina, Rosina and the Queen of the Night for regional opera companies throughout the United States, as well as several premiers for Golden Fleece Opera and the Center for Contemporary Opera, both in New York City. Her Classical Cabaret has been seen from Maine to California, including the Cornelia Street Café in New York City and Upstairs at the Pudding in Cambridge. She trained in Chicago with Norman Gulbrandsen and in New York with Daniel Ferro; awards include Chicago NATS First Place Winner and New York Oratorio Society.
She holds faculty positions at Brown University and New England Conservatory and has taught master classes at Cornell University, Olin College, Gordon College and St. Nicholas Theater, among others. Her students have gone on to study at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, New England Conservatory, The University of Michigan, the University of South Florida, among others, and have appeared on film and in theaters from coast to coast, including on Broadway. She was heard for three years worldwide as Guest Artist at Madison Square Garden singing the National Anthem for the New York Knicks and the Rangers. She recently premièred her first song cycle, The Progress of Desire, to critical acclaim.
