"War on Women?" Evaluating the Controversy and its Stakes
Date:
Friday, April 27, 2012 - 1:00pm - 2:00pm
Location:
Brown Faculty Club
Speakers:
Sara Matthiesen Join the Janus Fellows and the Sarah Doyle Women's Center for a free Faculty Club discussion on women's rights in the context of the "war on women" with Sara Matthiesen, a PhD candidate in the American Studies department. Sara is writing a dissertation about reproductive rights, how they get defined, and the social movements around them.
Do the recent controversies around women's reproductive rights constitute a "war on women?" How can we understand the issues beneath this "war"? What is at stake? Sara will give a brief introduction and will then lead discussion.
