Renovation Project

“The Stephen Robert ‘62 Campus Center will foster greater interaction among Brown’s extraordinary students, and exceptional faculty and staff. This will help achieve our plan for academic enrichment by building a shared sense of community."

- Stephen Robert '62

Thanks to the generosity of Stephen Robert '62 and several anonymous donors, the University is renovating Faunce House to create the Stephen Robert ’62 Campus Center. Designed by Schwartz/Silver Architects, the Center will be a space for the entire Brown community to gather.

Renovation Timeline

What's already done?

Part of the Center is already complete! The new Multipurpose Room opened on Monday, August 31, 2009. The room is hosting the temporary Blue Room Cafe and may be reserved during the evenings and on weekends for events and meetings by contacting University Scheduling. In addition to the Multipurpose Room, summer 2009 saw the restoration of three patios/terraces and limestone around the base of the building.

During the 2009-2010 academic year, the majority of the building has been closed for renovation. As of now, all the infrastructure for the full project has been completed, including plumbing, ductwork, and power and data lines. Construction of new interior spaces, such as the Leung mezzanine, are also complete.

What's happening now?

Now entering the final phase of the project, with a completion date of August 2010, the focus is on completing interior spaces, including painting and finishes.
