Brown's India program begins in June, with a month-long orientation to the Hindi language in Mussoorie, Landour. Students enjoy their stay at Mussoorie, which sits at an elevation of 7,000 feet and offers spectacular views of the Himalayan peaks and Doon Valley.
Orientation instructors have over 15 years of teaching experience and are carefully selected and trained. Orientation prepares students for their semester or year-long study of Hindi once they enroll at their chosen college.
Students enroll in one of two prestigious colleges in Delhi: St. Stephen's College or Lady Shri Ram College for Women. Both colleges are English language institutions serving approximately 1,500 undergraduates.
The colleges follow a British-style educational system of tutorials and lectures. Students participate in extracurricular activities, such as sports and theme clubs, that allow them to interact with host national students.
Students take up to three courses in any of St. Stephen's or Lady Shri Ram's academic departments. Students continue to take Hindi language throughout their enrollment period. All instruction is in English with the exception of the Hindi language course. Students in the St. Stephen's program pursue an honors course of study.
