During the fall, students can choose from unit courses in Engineering Computation, Strength of Materials, Introduction to Geotechnical Engineering, and Fluid Mechanics.
In the spring, the unit courses offered include Mechanical Properties of Materials, Advanced Solid Mechanics, Structural Modeling and Behavior, Engineering Economics and Management, Coastal Engineering, Foundation Engineering and Uncertainty Analysis in Engineering.

- Optional Internship: June through mid-August
The University of Cantabria provides Brown students appropriate housing accommodation in shared furnished private flats duly vetted to meet appropriate construction standards, safety and security. Flats are furnished with beds, table, chairs and a full kitchen, but bed linens and towels must be provided by the student. Students also have the option of living with carefully selected Spanish families.
Brown students who have successfully completed the full year or the spring semester are eligible for 6-8 week summer engineering internship placements. During the end of the spring term, the School of Engineering will work with interested students to determine a placement with a Spanish firm or a public works project. Students may be placed with public works projects sponsored by the City of Santander and the Regional Government of Cantabria, work alongside professors in research, or help with "on site" duties in supervised civil engineering projects, building anything from bridges and freeways to tunnels. Companies providing internship placements have included Ferrovial, ACS, OHL Gamesa or Acciona. Although not guaranteed, most internships will be supported with a small stipend.
Apply by the deadline using Brown's online application system via the "apply now" and "return to application" buttons on the right side of this page. Applications typically require faculty recommendations so it is important to begin the process early.
