Hispanic Cinema Studies Now

Eventbrite Registration - Event is FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

This day-long symposium brings to Brown several prominent scholars of Spanish-language cinema to share their current work on Hispanic film with the Brown University community and beyond. The symposium consists of three panels with two speakers each: Conditions of Production (Susan Martin Máqruez, Rutgers University; Paul Julian Smith, CUNY Graduate Center), Transnational Approaches (Marvin D'Lugo, Clark University;  Jordi Marí, North Carolina State University), and Sensory Readings (Jo Labanyi, New York University; Kathleen Vernon, SUNY Stony Brook). There will be a screening series on Wednesdays and Sundays during the month of April so that Brown students, faculty, and staff can have access to some of the films discussed. For more information, please contact Professor Sarah Thomas.
