When there are two users, participants should sit in chairs with their knees touching. The board should rest on their laps. When there are three or more users the board should be placed on a flat surface that is easily accessible for all users. Each person should place one hand on his or her lap and the other hand should be slightly touching the planchette. (Buckland, 78)
