Thomas Paine, Reflecciones politicas escritas bajo el titulo de Instinto comun. Lima, 1821.

This pamphlet is apparently the only contemporary Spanish American version of Thomas Paine’s Common sense, the short treatise which animated republicans throughout the Atlantic world. The name of the translator is probably apocryphal. Another, apparently complete, version of Common Sense, as translated by the future president of Ecuador Vicente Rocafuerte, appeared in Philadelphia in 1821 as part of Rocafuerte's Ideas necesarias á todo pueblo americano independiente, que quiera ser libre.
