Dr. Sorin Istrail is the Julie Nguyen Brown Professor of Computational and Mathematical Sciences, Professor of Computer Science, and Director of the Center for Computational Molecular Biology at Brown University.

Sorin was previously senior director and then head of the Informatics Research Group of Celera Genomics.

Since 2003 Sorin has been a visiting associate in the Biology Division at California Institute of Technology, and an Adjunct Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences; currently, he currently has two Ph.D. students: Ryan Tarpine and Derek Aguiar. Alex Gillmor is a MS student in the Computer Science Department at Brown University currently working on applying statistical methods to SNP tagging problems.

Mainak Mandal is a MS student in the Computer Science Department at Brown University currently working with RNASeq data.

Phong Nguyen Duc is a MS student in the Computer Science Department at Brown University currently working with Sorin Istrail on a benchmark for phasing algorithms.

Timothy Johnstone is one of the undergraduate leaders of the CYRENE project. He is an undergraduate student studying Computational Biology at Brown University. Tim's ongoing goal is to supplement biological knowledge and practice with an understanding of the complex informatics required to reach conclusions at the network/system level. James Hart is one of the undergraduate leaders of the CYRENE project.

James Weis is an undergraduate computaional biology major working on RNASeq data with applications to biofuel.

Jacob Franco is an undergraduate computaional biology major working on fuzzy clustering methods to infer population substructure.

Jeff Herman is an undergraduate computaional biology major working on MCMC based methods to infer population substructure.

Isaac Berkowitz is an undergraduate computaional biology major and one of the lead annotators of the CYRENE project.

William Allen is an Applied Math and Biology concentrator who has worked with Sorin Istrail and has recently been awarded the prestigious Churchill Scholarship to study at University of Cambridge, UK.

Brad Wang is a sophomore at Brown University working with Sorin Istrail.
