Parking citations include failure to display a valid permit, blocking a fire lane, parking in other than the lot designated on the vehicle’s permit, parking in a prohibited area, and conduct prejudicial to the rights of other permit holders.

Fines are payable within twenty-one (21) calendar days of issuance. Failure to pay fines within the allotted time period may jeopardize future parking privileges. Vehicles with outstanding parking citations are subject to towing at owner’s expense if parked in a University lot.
Arrangements for payment of fines by credit card can be made online via the [email protected], in person at the Transportation Office during business hours, or by mail sent to Brown University, Transportation Office, Box 1865, Providence, RI 02912.
Parking Citation Appeals
An individual who has received notice of a parking citation may appeal the fine within ten (10) days of issuance of the citation via the Appeals Section of the [email protected]. After the 10 day appeal period has expired, the ticket will no longer be eligible for appeal.
The Administration will render a decision within ten (10) business days after the appeal has been received. The [email protected] will generate an email notifying the appellant of the Administration’s decision. It is the responsibility of the person filing the appeal to provide a current email in the [email protected] system, as the appeal decisions are supplied by email. All appeals decisions are final.
Anyone who has difficulty filing an appeal through the Online Citation Payments/Appeals program may visit the Transportation Office for assistance.
