Staff Spotlight: Sean Thompson

I am the Program Director of Orientation and First Year Experience. I coordinate the undergraduate first year orientation exercises for newly admitted students. I also will be crafting a first year experience for students that creates engaging academic and social programming focused on transitioning them to the Brown campus community.

- What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the impact that I’ve had on campus communities. I consider myself a change agent. I’ve been able to enhance the effects of orientation, transition and retention programs on students by creating leadership training programs focused on identity development and social justice. I have presented at national conferences and universities on leadership development, diversity and inclusion, social media engagement. I am a fierce supporter for building communities with a focus on empathy, advocacy, and mentorship. I am also very proud to use my own cultural background to inform my work and inspire the campus communities I've had the honor of being a part of. 

- Name something about you most people don't know.
Hmm… I was born on 10/24 at 10/24am.

- If you weren't doing this job, what would you be doing?
Realistically speaking, I would be in Marketing or Public Relations. Dream job would have to be a singer/entertainer.
