Careers & Life After Brown
The central location for career advising at Brown is the Center for Careers and Life After Brown (CareerLAB). CareerLAB offers daily walk-in hours and individual appointments, workshops, career fairs and on-campus recruiting events with employers, a job and internship board online, special events, and an extensive collection of online and print resources. At CareerLAB, students may also access advising on health careers, law careers and careers in nonprofit, social justice and public service sectors.
Go to CareerLAB early in your time as a Brown student -- don't wait until your senior year to have a conversation and get advice! Think of CareerLAB as part of your advising network.
Commissioning Progams (including ROTC)
The Office of Student Veterans and Commissioning Programs provides information about training and scholarship opportunities available to Brown students through programs such as the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), Officer Candidate School (OCS), and the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP). The office also coordinates and directs services supporting Brown students who are military veterans.
Fellowships, Internships and Research Awards
Brown sponsors a number of fellowship programs, internship opportunities, and research awards for undergraduate students. The Dean of the College Office is a primary source of information and support for all of these opportunities; check out the Fellowships @ Brown website. Graduate students may consult with the Dean of the Graduate School office, their academic program, and the Graduate Student Council for information.
The Swearer Center for Public Service connects scholarship and service through programs that engage students and faculty in community-based work in Providence and around the world. Since the University's founding, Brown students have been urged to lead lives of "usefulness and reputation." Brown's educational philosophy continues to promote active community engagement as a central component of a Brown education. The Swearer Center sponsors programs of activism and volunteerism, events on campus, the Social Innovation Initiative, fellowships, internships and prizes.
