Directory Information (and Suppression)

Brown University employs an electronic directory that can be accessed on the University's home page to locate students, faculty, and staff of the University.

Directory listings include each student's name, degree level, e-mail address, and campus postal box. All of these items are included in the University's definition of directory or public information according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).  Additional information about FERPA is available on the Registrar's website, and students who have questions  should consult the Office of the Registrar (J. Walter Wilson Hall, Room 318).

To Suppress Directory Information from Public View

Students who wish to suppress their directory information from public view should set the 'Confidentiality' flag that is available in the secured 'Personal Information Update' section of Banner Web at selfservice.brown.edu.
