Resources for All Students - Fall 2020 Opening

This is a list of campus resources for all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students for Fall 2020. 
- Please note that Emergency services are available 24/7.
- Most administrative offices remain physically closed but all staff are available to talk and support students via phone or online during business hours. Summer business hours are 8:00am - 4:00pm Eastern Standard Time (EST), Monday through Friday.

Information on this page may be updated as the University’s planning evolves and/or public health guidance prompts a shift in Brown’s operations and protocols.

ADMINISTRATOR ON CALL (AOC)

The AOC system will continue to be available to all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students throughout the remainder of the semester. An AOC is able to respond to students, connect them with resources and referrals, consult with colleagues as needed, and gather information for additional follow-up during business hours. Students should note that the AOC is intended to ensure the safety of students, ensure that students receive the appropriate support and outreach they need during a crisis, and ensure that appropriate referrals are made to university offices for follow up on the next business day. Students with non-urgent questions or concerns should contact Student Support Services during business hours.

BWELL HEALTH PROMOTION

BWell has made some changes to programs and services, but remains in operation and available to all students. Please visit their website for up to date information.
The confidential Sexual Assault Counselor is available to all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students.

  • It can be reached at (401) 863-6000, the Sexual Assault Response Line. In a life-threatening emergency, contact Brown Public Safety at (401) 863-4111.

CHAPLAINS AND RELIGIOUS LIFE

The Chaplains of the University are holding the Brown community in our prayers and remain fully available to all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students, even as they work remotely.  Please check their website for details on virtual programming and meetings.

COUNSELING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES (CAPS)

CAPS continues to work with all students including undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students to help continue with services at CAPS or connect to local providers in other locations. CAPS services are available during university weekday business hours. All contact has moved via telehealth sessions using Zoom, phone and email. Visit their website for up to date information.

  • Urgent needs: CAPS continues to provide services for urgent situations. In those cases, please access one of the urgent help options immediately, including our number at 401-863-3476. If you call, follow the prompts to be connected to someone who can help. This is available 24/7, every day of the year, and you can access it from anywhere.

STUDENT ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE (SEAS)

SAS is here to assist all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students via email, phone calls, and video conferencing during business hours. Please feel free to reach out to the staff if you have any concerns or questions regarding the Student Accessibility Service forms, etc. During this time, please send all forms in electronic format, if possible for accessibility purposes. Deans can serve as a sounding board to help students consider their options and can help connect students to the right set of resources at Brown. The Student Support Services team will continue to be available to students via phone, email and video conferencing during weekday business hours.

BROWN CENTER FOR STUDENTS OF COLOR (BCSC)

The professional staff at the BCSC are available to provide remote assistance to all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students of color. We are happy to serve as a care web for you as we collectively transition into this new way of being with one another. We encourage you to subscribe to the BCSC newsletter to stay updated on BCSC news and announcements. GLOBAL BROWN CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (GBC) 

The GBC Staff will continue to support all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students remotely as they travel back home or remain on campus. While the Global Brown Lounge and our office are closed during this period, they are accessible for advising, direction to resources, and a space to feel heard. They will be working on digital engagement projects to connect the community, and as always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments, concerns.

LGBTQ CENTER

The LGBTQ Center staff, Kelly Garrett and Caitlin O’Neill, are available to provide support and advising remotely during business hours to all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students. We encourage students to reach out for support related to both personal and academic needs. We hope to provide some opportunities to connect remotely and will provide updates in the coming weeks through our e-newsletter, our website, and our social media.

OFFICE OF MILITARY AFFILIATED STUDENTS

The Office of Military-Affiliated Students will continue to support, advise, and provide direction to our veteran and ROTC all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students remotely. With the office and lounge closed during this period, students are encouraged to reach out through email to set up a phone call or Zoom session. In the coming weeks OMAS will continue to update their website, newsletter, and social media platforms.

SARAH DOYLE CENTER FOR WOMEN AND GENDER

The Sarah Doyle Center for Women and Gender offers many resources on our website that continue to be available for all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school students. In addition, Gail Cohee and Felicia Salinas-Moniz are available for support or to answer questions. We are available by email or can set up video meetings during weekday business hours.

THE COLLEGE

If you have academic concerns, you may contact the College by emailing [email protected] or calling 401-863-9800 and you will receive a response within 24 hours. UNDOCUMENTED, FIRST-GENERATION COLLEGE AND LOW-INCOME STUDENT (U-FLi) CENTER

The professional staff of the U-FLi Center, Julio Reyes and Renata Mauriz, will remain available to offer virtual support and advising to all undergraduate students (on campus, off campus, or away from Brown), graduate students, and medical school U-FLi students. We can provide guidance and navigational support, as well as opportunities to reflect and check in. The center also hopes to find other avenues for continued engagement with the student community through virtual programming. BROWN ATHLETICS 

A decision on fall athletics competition has not yet been announced by the Ivy League. That announcement is expected on July 8. Brown’s Department of Athletics will communicate directly with student-athletes after the league makes its announcement.
