The goal of the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) research training program is to strengthen research training environments and promote broader participation in the biomedical research workforce by expanding the pool of well-trained scientists earning a PhD. IMSD@Brown is a training grant (T32) awarded to the University from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences within the NIH. IMSD@Brown provides predoctoral students with professional development opportunities, academic support, and a community which enhances success in their PhD programs and makes them highly competitive for the postdoctoral positions and scientific careers of their choice.
