The Initiative to Maximize Student Development (IMSD) at Brown University aims to significantly increase the number of underrepresented PhD students trained for careers in STEM. The program is funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences since April 2008. The program strives for community, collaboration and excellence in an innovative and interactive learning environment. Participants are identified from incoming and early stage PhD cohorts spanning 24 graduate programs across the University.
