Description

The Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at Brown University is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join the Surveillance of Infectious Disease lab, led by Dr. Katherine Siddle. The lab works to develop and apply genomic tools to understand viral evolution, transmission, and host-pathogen interaction for a wide range of infections from SARS-CoV-2 to Lassa virus. We are specifically seeking a postdoctoral associate to work on computational projects at the intersection of genomics and the emergence, evolution, and outcome of disease.

It is anticipated that the candidate will develop and lead independent projects related to one or more of the areas of interest in the lab. We are a highly collaborative group based in Providence, RI. The laboratory includes both a wet lab and computational infrastructure for genomics research. In addition to the vibrant research community at Brown University, we work closely with research partners in the US and internationally. As a postdoctoral associate, you will be encouraged to participate fully in these activities and work closely with Dr. Siddle to develop your research ideas. In addition to mentorship from Dr. Siddle, Brown University offers several opportunities for career development, training, teaching, and mentoring.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., computational biology, genomics, virology, microbiology, evolutionary biology)
  • A collaborative mindset and an eagerness to work on challenging projects spanning data generation and interpretation.
  • Significant experience in analyzing pathogen genomic or transcriptomic sequencing data. Experience with developing computational methods or analytical tools is a plus.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Application Instructions

Applicants should submit a CV, a cover letter describing research interests, and the names of three references to Interfolio. This position offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience. Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
