Graduate Student Tian Jian Receives 2017 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad

Tian JianTian JianThe Department of Chemistry is proud to announce that Tian Jian, a graduate student in Professor Lai-Sheng Wang's lab, has received an Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad award. This highly competitive award is set up by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to honor overseas Chinese students with outstanding academic accomplishments.

The award was established in 2003 to encourage research excellence and to recognize the achievements among Chinese students abroad. This award includes a check and CSC-issued certificate, to be presented directly to winners by New York Counsulate General Zhang Qiyue.  The award ceremony will be held later this spring in the Consulate General of PRC in New York. All the awardees' family, their advisor, and their advisor's family are invited to participate in the award ceremony and festivities.

The Department of Chemistry has had the privilege of announcing other winners of this prestigious award in the past, including Wei-Li Li (Wang Group) and Huiyuan Zhu (Sun Group).
