Trinity College Dublin is the oldest university in Ireland and is internationally known as one of the most prestigious research institutions.  Located in vibrant downtown Dublin, students will find the location ideal for accessing vast resources and engaging in academic study with the 17,000 students at Trinity.  Students have the opportunity to engage in the many student organizations  during their time in Ireland.  Students on this program also have the unique advantage of pursuing independent research and taking master's level coursework as part of their course load.  Master's level coursework can  be later applied toward graduate study at Trinity under the Brown +1 program.

The  Semester Start Up Programme (or SSP) at Trinity College is a three week orientation period for the fall semester focused on an interdisciplinary approach to study.   Students receive 5 ETCS (or 1/6 of their required credit) for the SSP and are, therefore, able to complete a the work of a complete semester when combined with the other undergraduate courses from October-December.  This program includes lectures, tutorials and field trips around Dublin and to other parts of Ireland such as the Boyne Valley and Kilkenny, as well as a range of social evenings to cultural venues.

Students who study abroad at Trinity College may select from the wide range of courses offered through the Broad Curriculum, the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and ScienceBrown students studying in Ireland must complete 30 credits each semester in order to receive the equivalent of four Brown credits.

Special Feature
Students on this program participate in Brown +1, which allows them to take master's level course while at Trinity during their junior year with the option of returning after graduation from Brown to complete the one year master's degree.  Students who wish to pursue this option, known as Brown +1, should contact OIP in their sophomore year to discuss how to plan an appropriate course of study for their time abroad.

Students will arrange housing through Trinity College, and are usually assigned to on-campus accommodations in Trinity Hall.   The typical housing arrangement consists of single or double rooms, which are grouped in apartments accommodating 6 persons with a kitchen and living room.
