(There will be a Q&A for postdocs and grad students following the seminar with refreshments provided)
Barbara Cheifet is an assistant editor for Genome Biology. Genome Biology is part of the BMC Series of journals, which is entirely open-access, meaning that all accepted articles are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication, without subscription charges or registration barriers. They also commission short articles and reviews for publication.
They publish on a complete spectrum of topics relating to biology, including cellular, molecular, and population biology from a genomic perspective, as well as research articles, new methods and software tools on sequence analysis, bioinformatics, proteomics, and comparative biology. All of the published articles have been subjected to stringent peer-review, and their impact factor is currently 10.5.
As an assistant editor, she is responsible for reading and reviewing submitted manuscripts, finding and corresponding with peer reviewers, and making decisions on publications for Genome Biology.
