Biography

E. M. Nielsen is a Ph.D. candidate in Early Modern History at Brown University. Their research interests are at the intersection of maritime culture and the history of medicine, specifically in the relationship between space and environment, mobility, and the body. Their dissertation examines records from seventeenth- and eighteenth-century English and Dutch voyages to consider the construction of bodies and bodily knowledge at sea.
