Yekai (Kyle) Zhang is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History at Brown University. He holds a B.A. in History from Shandong University and A.M. in History from Brown University. His study focuses on early modern British Isles, especially politics, society, and memory in the 17th century. His past and on-going projects include a study of Edward Hyde's political rhetoric in 1641-42, the political activism of the London apprentices on the eve of the Restoration and the social memory of the 1641 Irish Rebellion. He also reads widely on early modern continental Europe, colonial America, late imperial China, and historical theories.
