Dr. Wong Quoted in Wisconsin NPR Article

November 27, 2017

Brown Education Department Chair Kenneth Wong's education policy expertise has come in handy again, this time in a Wisconsin NPR article on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's report card release on school performance.

Among other comments, Dr. Wong noted the importance of assessment, stating that growth measurement is important in tracking student progress against peers, and said that annual report cards aren't an effective tool for addressing student issues. Student progress, Wong stated, should be assessed every 2-3 months so that teachers and administrators can adjust and intervene proactively throughout the academic year.
