Attention MAT Applicants: Elementary Education Track Admissions Update
Brown University is committed to offering exceptional education and training to ensure the strongest possible preparation for future elementary and secondary school educators. This requires having ongoing review processes to assess academic strength and integrity, as well as alignment with the University’s priorities as outlined in the strategic plan, Building on Distinction. This year, the University is conducting a comprehensive review of the Master of Arts in Teaching programs. After careful consideration of a number of factors, including the most effective and efficient use of resources to meet the needs of current students while conducting meaningful program review and redesign processes, the University has decided to suspend acceptances of new applicants to the elementary education track for the 2018-2019 academic year. This suspension will enable greater focus on the secondary education track review while studying further the elementary education program for its next phase.
Brown remains committed to supporting fully the educational success of all of current MAT students and alumni, and to preparing highly talented and capable leaders in education. These short-term steps will ensure ongoing program strength, relevance and impact, positioning the University and its graduates to continue to make a difference in classrooms in our city, state and nation.
