Stephanie Galasso Bio

Stephanie Galasso - Graduate Student
German Studies

Stephanie joined the German Studies department in Fall 2012 as a first-year doctoral student. She graduated from the University of California at Davis in June 2012 with degrees in German and English Literature. While at UC Davis, she composed a senior honors thesis tracing the linguistic, thematic, and philosophical relays among the major texts of the Trümmerliteratur period and the plays of Samuel Beckett, as embodied by the figure of rubble. She is also a published poet with editorial experience at the literary magazine of UC Davis. During her time at Brown, she hopes to explore and hone her interests in critical theory, aesthetics, and psychoanalysis-- particularly as they pertain to memory and trauma in the Romantic and post-Romantic German canon
