The Institute at Brown for Environment and Society has partnerships with fifteen University departments, providing graduate students with the flexibility to pursue a rigorous disciplinary education while simultaneously conducting valuable, stimulating multi-disciplinary research.
Students benefit from the interdisciplinary environment of the Institute while working under the direction of an IBES fellow within his or her home department. IBES supports its graduate students with a host of fellowship, research, and travel funding opportunities.
