The Kartzinel Lab wants to understand who interacts with whom in nature, and why it matters.

As human populations grow—and their demand for food and water increases—wildlife face extinction worldwide. Strategies to ensure human-livestock-wildlife coexistence depend on accurate predictions about how these groups will interact with each other in a changing world. Deploying DNA-based technology in the field enables us to forensically monitor where species go, what they eat, and how they respond to environmental perturbations like climate change, agricultural intensification, and urbanization.
