Brown University Professor of Physics Marcus Spradlin was awarded a prestigious 2017 Simons Fellowship Award in Theoretical Physics. The Simons Fellows program provides funding to select faculty for up to a semester long research leave. Professor Spradlin plans to further pursue his studies in Cluster Algebras and Scattering Amplitudes, a subject of great interest to mathematicians but that can, with physical input, be exploited to carry out calculations of previously intractable amplitudes in physics.
