The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) recently announced 21 projects being funded by $1.4 million in 2023 Seed awards. This annual program is aimed at helping early-stage research projects grow and help them build collaborations and find other funding sources. Proposals were solicited this fall and reviewed by panels of faculty reviewers.
Physics Department Chair Professor Gang Xiao, Ford Foundation Professor of Physics and Engineering, and Assistant Professor of Physics Kemp Plumb were among forty-four 2023 research awardees.
Professor Xiao was honored for his project titled “Antiferromagnetic Quantum Oxide Tunnel Junctions for Beyond-CMOS Electronics.”
Assistant Professor of Physics Kemp Plumb was honored for his project titled “Controlling magnetic ground states in frustrated magnets.”
Professors Xiao and Plumb will be honored at the Celebration of Research on Monday, April 24th at which OVPR will recognize all 2023 Seed, Salomon and Research Achievement awardees.
