This weekend, the Department of Biostatistics celebrated our 21 graduates of 2016:

Master’s of Arts: Kelsey Alexovitz, Yinghong Lan, Lin Lin, Xiaojun Meng, Ian Pan, Justin Romanoff, and Ran Wei
Bachelor of Science, Statistical Concentrators: Sara Grace, Marisa Millenson, and Yukiko Watanabe
On Saturday, 28 May 2016, the Department held its annual Commencement Reception at which graduates, their families, students, alumni, faculty and staff came together to celebrate our Class of 2016 as well as the accomplishments of the 2015-16 academic year. See full photo album.
As part of the celebrations, two annual graduate awards were recognized.
5th-year doctoral candidate, Bahar Erar-Hood, received the Department’s 2016 PhD Research Presentation award for her 9 May 2016 presentation entitled “Adaptive Bayesian Whole Genome Regression for Predicting Responsiveness to Treatment in Randomized Clinical Trials in Heterogeneous Populations". Mrs. Erar-Hood was presented this award by her thesis advisor, Associate Professor George Papandonatos.
Graduating Master’s, Ian Schmid, was the recipient of the Department’s 2016 Master’s of Science Thesis Award of Excellence for his thesis entitled, “A Programmatic Evaluation of HealthPath, a Rhode Island Health Home for Privately Insured Individuals with Serious Behavioral Health Conditions". Mr. Schmid was presented the award by his thesis advisor, Assistant Professor Hana Lee.
On Sunday, 29 May 2016, as part of Brown’s 2016 Commencement, the School of Public Health held their 2016 Commencement ceremonies. Commencement photos can be viewed here.
