Lin Feng Zou, ScM ’22 and Stavroula Chrysanthopoulou, PhD ’14

Since 2012, we have recognized the thesis work of Master of Science graduates whose outstanding research work has resulted in a consequential thesis.This year, the Master of Science Thesis Award of Excellence was awarded to Lin Feng Zou, for his thesis entitled, “Predicting US COVID-19 Cases Using Bidirectional Long- Short-Term Memory Recurrent Neural Networks with Clustered Data” Lin worked with Stavroula Chrysanthopoulou, Ph.D. as his thesis advisor. 


Kun (Michael) Meng, Ph.D. ‘22


Since 2013, our PhD candidates and students have been recognized for their PhD Research Presentations, an annual requirement for Biostatistics PhD candidates and students who have successfully passed the Qualifying Exams. This year's presentations occurred on May 16 and May 23, 2022. The winner for the PhD Research Presentation Award winner is Kun (Michael) Meng, for his presentation titled, “Randomness and Statistical Inference of Shapes via the Smooth Euler Characteristic Transform”. Jessica Wang, ScB ’22

Every year, the Undergraduate Statistics Concentration students are required to exhibit their research work through poster presentations. On April 29th, four students presented their work. The 2022 Capstone Poster Award of Excellence was awarded to Jessica Wang, for her poster entitled “Trend Analysis of the Financial and Quality Performance of Accountable Care Organizations, 2014 through 2020”, Jessica’s Capstone Advisor was Roee Gutman, Ph.D. Check out more information on the other presenters here.
