Lorin Crawford receives the Emerging Leader Award

Associate Professor Lorin Crawford received the Emerging Leader Award from the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS), given to early-career researchers who show evidence and potential for leadership in our profession.  This is a highly selective and prestigious award given to a maximum of 8 junior researchers per year.  The citation for Lorin’s award gives a sense of his contributions and potential:  For path-breaking research that combines theory and methods of mathematics, statistics and computing to generate new knowledge and insight about the genetic basis of disease; for exceptional contributions to mentoring students from multiple scientific disciplines; and for demonstrating leadership and vision through promotion and development of transdisciplinary research in data science.

We are delighted to see Lorin’s many contributions to our field recognized with this distinguished award!
