Nursing Advice

Nursing advice is available 24/7 by calling 401-863-1330. Our nursing staff will follow-up on all after hours calls during regular business hours.

Hours of Operation (effective 5/26/2020) for Health Services (including Lab and Pharmacy):

Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 4:00PM.  All continuing students are eligible for care, including undergraduate students (on-campus, off-campus or away from Brown), graduate students and medical students.  There will not be a separate summer health fee for services.  Lab and pharmacy charges will apply and can be billed to your health insurance.

Telehealth and On-site Appointments

Students must call Health Services at 401-863-3953 to make an appointment or discuss any questions or concerns. We are not allowing walk-in appointments at this time. Our providers are now offering telehealth appointments for most visits. Due to limited services, self-scheduling via the patient portal is not available at this time for any type of appointment.

Pharmacy

For students within Rhode Island and On Campus:  The pharmacy is open Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 4:00PM (closed for lunch from 1:00–1:30 daily).  Prescription refills may be obtained by calling ahead so your prescription will be ready when you come to pick it up.  Note that all students are screened prior to entering Health Services. If you have any respiratory or COVID-19 symptoms or a fever, you will be asked to return after all your symptoms have resolved (Fever free for 72 hours AND at least 7 days since the start of symptoms). Please arrange for someone else to pick up your prescription.  If this is not possible, we can arrange to deliver your prescription to the front door.  Prescriptions can also be mailed within Rhode Island.

For students outside of Rhode Island: If you are away from campus, your prescription may be transferred to a local pharmacy. Ask your local pharmacy to contact the Brown pharmacy at 401-863-7882 to process the transfer.

Laboratory

The laboratory is open Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 4:00PM. Note that all students are screened prior to entering Health Services. If you have a laboratory order from a community medical provider AND have any respiratory or COVID-19 symptoms or fever, you will be asked to return after all your symptoms have resolved (Fever free for 72 hours AND at least 7 days since the start of symptoms). Please call 401-863-1330 to speak with a nurse before coming to Health Services.

If you have questions or concerns with regard to COVID-19 testing, please call 401-863-1330 to speak with a nurse. Please note that testing for COVID-19 is not available onsite at Health Services.
