Wood Pallets are a significant contributor to waste on campus.
Vendor Swap Program:
We first ask that departments work with their vendors to do a swap of pallets upon delivery of new palletized items. If you need assistance setting up a vendor swap program please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and the E&E office would be happy to help.
If you are unable to set up a vendor swap program please place a work order through Service Response.
Can I get unwanted Wood Pallets?
Yes! In furthering FM’s sustainability efforts we would like to offer the option for Brown staff, faculty, and students to have access to wood pallets that otherwise would be recycled. Reuse of these pallets has become popular in art, home improvement, and furnishings; and reuse is a preferred option before recycling.
The pallets are used and have been discarded around campus by various delivery companies delivering food product, equipment, and supplies. They come as you find them and Brown has not inspected, tested, or otherwise examined the pallets. Any pallet taken is being taken “as is” with no representations, guarantees, or warranties by Brown of any kind, including but not limited to, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose.
The free pallets are on a first come first serve basis and will be restocked as more become available. They will be located in the Facilities Management back parking lot next to the wood dumpster. Please feel free to come and collect the pallets between the hours of 6:00am - 8:30am and 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Students, please note pallets are to be used for projects, art, and other uses that will go with you when you depart campus.
