Advance-CTR is happy to introduce our two newest team members, Meghan Tenca, MS, and Val Zabala, PhD.
Meghan Tenca, MS
Data and Reporting Manager
Meghan came on board this November and will spearhead Advance-CTR's data management and reporting processes. Before joining the team, Meghan completed her Master's degree in Data and Computational Science from the University College Dublin in Ireland. She previously served as a Data Specialist for the Harvard Catalyst CTSA program.
"As a natural problem solver with a passion for data analysis and management, I couldn't be more excited to join Advance-CTR in this role and to contribute to another successful clinical and translational research program!"
Val Zabala, PhD
Project Manager, Award Cores
Val joined Advance-CTR in October and manages the Professional Development and Pilot Projects Program Cores of Advance-CTR. Val was previously a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Rhode Island Hospital where she studied hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury using animal models. She completed her PhD in Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology from Brown University in 2019.
In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious Gilliam Fellowship for Advanced Study through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, which supports early-career life scientists in academic labs across the US. Val was also recognized as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow, which is awarded to outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines.
"Having been through the grants application process myself, I'm looking forward to working with early-career investigators on the resources and support they need."
Please join us in welcoming Meghan and Val to the team. We encourage you to stop by and say hello at any time at our Providence offices.
