Advance-CTR offers the following workshops: 

Getting Projects Started and Planning for Your Study 

This workshop will offer an introduction to building databases in REDCap. We will cover basic concepts and best practices for building a database in context of your clinical research question.  This workshop will be helpful to anyone building a new project in REDCap, and also to those who have been tasked with managing or maintaining an existing database.

Surveys 

This workshop will offer an introduction to building surveys and using survey tools in REDCap. We will cover basic concepts and best practices for building a survey and implementing it in the context of your larger research project. This workshop will be helpful to anyone building a new project in REDCap that involves surveys or interaction with patients or participants as part of data collection.

Advanced Users Tips & Tricks

This workshop will give attendees the chance to choose topics to work on from a preset list. Examples of topics that could be covered include, but are not limited to:

  • How to protect PHI and address PHI concerns within REDCap;
  • How to deliver gift cards to participants;
  • Using the randomization module; and,
  • Using actions tags and advanced branching logic.

This workshop should only be attended by intermediate to advanced users or users who have taken the “Getting Started” REDCap workshop. 

Creating Databases & Using Surveys (3.5 hour workshop)

This workshop offers a comprehensive look at creating a database and using surveys. This longer session will cover topics from the “Getting Started” workshop and the “Surveys” workshop. Time at the end of workshop will be dedicated to individual questions. Attendees are encouraged to bring laptops but this is not be required.  

Requisites (All Workshops): Attendees must have a REDCap account already created. Go to www.LifespanREDCap.org to request an account if you don’t already have one. If you are a new user, your account must be requested two weeks before class, as accounts are created on Wednesdays only. Attendees must also have logged into REDCap and watched the tutorial videos located on the REDCap homepage.  Required videos (34 minutes total): “Detailed Overview,” “Data Entry Overview,” and “Introduction to Project Development.”
