The ADVANCE Program strives to broker opportunities for women scientists’ career advancement by providing funding mechanisms that support their research and professional development. The ADVANCE Travel Grant enables women faculty in the sciences and engineering to accept invitations to guest-lecture at universities and conferences.
Awards of up to $1,000 serve as rapid response funds for women scientists and engineers who accept invitations to present papers, lectures, or symposia at professional conferences or peer institutions. Poster session presentations and invitations to visit collaborators’ labs are not eligible activities for this award. Awards will be funded at a higher level if the faculty applicant makes multiple presentations, such as at additional institutions near the conference or inviting-institution location.
Tenured and tenure-track women faculty in the physical and biological sciences are eligible to apply for these awards.
Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed based on their potential to have a significant impact on the career of the faculty applicant. |
