About The Dean of Admission
As Dean of Admission, Mr. Miller is responsible for directing the recruitment, selection, and matriculation of each entering class at Brown. He and his 40 person staff annually review nearly 20,000 applications for the approximately 1485 spaces in the freshman class.
Students apply from and are admitted to Brown from all 50 states, the District of Columbia , and nearly 80 foreign countries, and Brown's entering classes are among the most distinguished and diverse in the nation. Miller and his staff also support the efforts of nearly 9,000 volunteer alumni/ae interviewers around the world, who annually interview thousands of applicants for admission to Brown.
Prior to his position at Brown, Miller was Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine from 2001-2005. Miller is also the former Director of Financial Aid at Harvard College , a position he held from 1983-1999. From 1999-2000 Miller was the Director of Capital Gifts at Brown University where he oversaw the University's fundraising efforts among its top prospects, with a particular focus on raising financial aid funds.
