About The Director of Financial Aid
Jim Tilton is responsible for the functioning of the Office of Financial Aid, which includes having oversight of the annual University Scholarship budget for need-based financial aid as well as all federal Title IV, state and other financial aid funds.
Jim also provides leadership in establishing and interpreting Brown’s financial aid policies, and develops strategies to assist students and families with the context of Brown’s commitment to need-blind admissions and need-based financial aid.
The Office of Financial Aid provides guidance to undergraduate and graduate students and parents regarding financing options available to meet the cost of attending Brown. Additionally, the Office of Financial Aid works closely with the Office of Admission, the Dean of the College, the Graduate School and other administrative departments on campus to ensure full and effective communication on matters of policy and individual admission and financial aid cases.
