Petra Gigapan Gallery

The following panoramic photographs were taken by Ian Straughn in July 2008, using a GigaPan robotic camera mount. Brown University, under the directorship of Drs. Martha Sharp Joukowsky, Susan E. Alcock, and Felipe Rojas, has been systematically excavating the Great Temple complex in the heart of central Petra, Jordan -- the capital of the Nabataean kingdom, the key archaeological destination in Jordan (also voted one of the new 8 wonders of the world) -- and surrounding areas in and around Petra.

To read more about Brown University's ongoing and past work in Jordan, visit the websites for the Brown University Petra Terraces Archaeological Project (BUPTAP), the Brown University Petra Archaeological Project, and The Great Temple Excavation.
