'Commencement 101' for Parents of Graduating Students
It's May, and that means Commencement is almost here. Brown's traditional weekend events are wondrous – and potentially confusing for first-timers. Read the Commencement 2008 Web site and prepare to enjoy yourself on this happy occasion.

For more than 35 years, Commencement Weekend has included a lively selection of discussions. This year's Saturday forums include talks by Robert Redford and Edwidge Danticat, and panel discussions on a variety of topics. Preview the schedule online.
A Veteran Student Life Dean Moves Up
Margaret Klawunn, associate vice president for campus life and dean for student life, has been named vice president for campus life and student services. In her new position she will be the senior advocate for students and their co-curricular needs. Klawunn will oversee ongoing efforts to strengthen the campus community and to ensure that it supports the academic life of students.
Brown Named 6th Most Popular with Teens
The latest Princeton Review survey, released in March, lists Brown in sixth place among high school students' "dream colleges." Brown also made the parents' top 10.
Enhanced Aid Policy Eases Families' Financial Burden
Beginning with the 2008–09 academic year, Brown will institute major changes to its financial aid awards. Students with parent incomes of less than $100,000 will no longer have a loan component in their awards, and others may attend at no cost.
