Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Brown supports electric vehicle (EV) owners by offering amenities that include access to parking and charging stations across campus.

Rate Structure and Parking Requirements

  • Vehicles parked in EV spaces must be plugged in and charging.
  • Vehicles parked in EV spaces must have a current displayed Brown parking permit or have paid for entry into the garage/lot.
  • The first hour is free. After the first hour, the fee is $.05 per minute.
  • Charging is limited to 4 hours daily.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station Locations

  • Lot 90 (Facilities Management) – Two units with four ports.
  • Lot 44 (Minden Hall) – One unit with two ports
  • Lot 68 (Power Street Garage – Upper Level) – Three units with six ports
  • Lot 200 (200 Dyer Street – Behind the Building) – Two units with four ports.  (Offline on April 29th, 2024)
  • Lot 222 (Richmond Street Garage – 1st Floor) – One unit with 2 ports
  • Lot 121 (121 South Main Street Garage – 1st Floor)

The ChargePoint Application

The ChargePoint app is the easiest way to find available stations, start charging and get updates when your EV is fully charged.

  • See which stations are available to charge your EV
  • Hold your phone by the card reader on the station to start charging
  • Receive notifications when your car is done charging, or when a station opens up
  • Easily find stations with photos submitted by other drivers
  • Get helpful advice from other drivers about charging at a particular station
  • Schedule charging, set reminders, get notifications, and track usage
  • Works with Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Apple Watch, and Wear OS by Google
