Pottery is the most ubiquitous category of object that is collected on the Vorotan Project, both through survey and excavation. During the 2005 season, pottery material collected from survey and excavation contexts was analyzed primarily by one of our project co-directors, Mkrtich Zardaryan, in the field. This analysis divided the pottery into rough chronological groups. During the the 2006 season, the amount of pottery from excavation increased exponentially, while survey produced much less material. M. Zardaryan did analyze some of this pottery, but the majority remains to be studied.

During the second half of the 2006 season, Dr. Jen Gates began a secondary analysis of some of the 2005 excavated pottery, during which she sorted the material according to fabric and began to build a database according to fabric and form.
