Francesca Mari

Francesca Mari writes about inequality, abuses of power, and housing for The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, New York Magazine, Texas Monthly, The New York Review of Books and others. Her longform story, “The Talented Mr. Khater,” about an international con-man, was on Longform’s Best of the Year list, won the City and Regional Magazine Award for feature writing, and was named one of the three most important pieces of longform journalism of the year by NPR. Her work has been anthologized in the Best Business Writing 2015 and she has toured with Pop-Up Magazine around the country, including a performance on the Aspen Ideas Festival main stage. Before turning to investigative reporting, Mari was an editor for ten years, most recently at The California Sunday Magazine and, before that, at Texas Monthly
