Patient Care

  • Both new patients and those already known to our Neurology practice are welcome to schedule outpatient appointments. Both video and audio-only options are available. These visits are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and some private insurers.
  • New patients wishing to see a neurologist in person for an outpatient visit are being placed on a waiting list for when normal operations resume. In person visits during the pandemic are at the discretion of the neurologist and assessed on a case-by-case basis
  • Essential inpatient neurological services continue. This include the inpatient neurology service, inpatient stroke service, neuro critical care unit, ultrasound lab, neurointerventional radiology suite, and electroencephalography (EEG) lab
  • Inpatient neurological consultations continue in person or remotely on a case-by-case basis
  • The electromyography (EMG) lab will perform urgent studies

Education

  • Morning report 3 times a week and select noon conferences for the residency program continue via Zoom
  • Weekly grand rounds continues via Zoom
  • Electives for both Brown medical students and visiting students are currently suspended
  • Clerkships for medical students concluded for the academic year prior to restrictions implemented for COVID-19

Research

  • Patients currently enrolled in select clinical research trials are continuing treatment whenever possible. Please contact your research liaison for further information.
  • Screening new patients for clinical trials continues where it can be done remotely
