Measles Outbreak

The Emerging Infectious Disease Scholars (EIDS) program invites Dr. Patrick Vivier, director and executive member of the Hassenfeld Child Health Innovation Institute at Brown and Dr. Ian Michelow, senior personnel on EIDS, to speak about clinical presentations of measles and the ethical implications of vaccines on public safety in response to the current outbreaks in the United States.

The Emerging Infectious Disease Scholars (EIDS) program invites Dr. Larry Bush, the physician to diagnose the index case of bioterror anthrax in the United States to speak on the importance of proper microbiological identifications during a time of crisis and the impacts such a diagnosis can make on local, state, and federal offices.

The Emerging Infectious Disease Scholars program is hosting Dr. Leonard Mermel, the Medical Director for Dept. of Epidemiology & Infection Control at Rhode Island Hospital, to speak with students on the health care facility preparedness and responses to the global emerging antifungal resistant Candida auris.
