What is the Forest Stewardship Council?

What makes you certified by the FSC?
The following web site explains forest certification as well as Chain-of-Custody certification. [http://www.fscus.org/faqs/what_is_certification.php]
How does the FSC Certification affect your pricing?
It doesn't. There is no change associated with the FSC logo. In fact, our "house" papers (Finch Fine, Strathmore Script, and Galerie Art) are FSC certified papers.
Why can't an FSC label be printed on a job that is Printed at Metcalf Copy Center?
There are two reasons: 1) Metcalf does not have the storage capabilities to keep FSC paper separate from non-FSC paper (a major part of COC certification). 2) Since the bulk of jobs printed at Metcalf Copy Center have extremely tight deadlines, many projects cannot afford to wait the 24 to 48 hours for label approval.
Why does the label need to be approved? Can't you just print it?
FSC requires that all pieces must pass through the approval process. First, it ensures that we are printing the correct label that matches the paper utilized. Secondly, the approval process also ensures that the labels used are consistent with FSC's branding guidelines. If these procedures are not followed, our certification can be compromised.
