Typical Design and Print Collateral Timelines

2 to 4 weeks:

The majority of standard print pieces such as brochures, posters, invitations and programs require one week to finalize content and two weeks to finalize design. Printing time typically requires an additional 3 to 5 days after the approval of a pdf or hard copy proof. From start to finish, you should allocate one month for a standard print piece.

1 to 2 months:

Newsletters and/or more complicated print pieces require two weeks or more to finalize content and four weeks to finalize design. Printing time is additional and typically requires one week to 10 days. From start to finish, you should allocate two months for longer print pieces.

3 to 6 months:

Lengthy publications such as annual reports and magazines require one month or more to finalize content and three months to finalize design. Printing time is additional and typically requires one week to 10 days. From start to finish, you should allocate four months or more for lengthy publications.

Typical Website Timelines

3 to 6 months:

On average, new or rebuilt websites require three to six months to launch from the date of request. This estimate includes the time it will take your unit to finalize your content strategy and information architecture, and to create and migrate content into the new site. The speed at which units are able to complete these tasks greatly impacts the timelines. Other factors that affect the timeline are the size of the site (sites can range from less than 10 pages to 1,000+) and whether or not the site requires custom features or functionality.
