The items of material culture that appear within the Pub are certainly a critical component of the pub's atmosphere. In addition, they can provide for the needs of pub patrons and serve as important visual cues for the activities that occur in the pub

A number of items of material culture from Wickenden Pub have been selected for further examination. A key has been provided in the form of a panoramic pubscape. The key references the items which are presented in a gallery format. They have been displayed as just the items of material culture, without their context within the pub being presented beyond the panoramic pubscape.

Think About:

How does placing items within the pubscape change how they are perceived compared to when they are presented without context?
Are certain items more important than others for maintaining atmosphere? community? business?
What is left out? Is the panorama a good way of exploring material culture? Is a gallery better?
